MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski said President Donald Trump's bipartisan meeting with lawmakers backfired -- and only showed his inability to focus on any issue of importance for even a short period of time.
The "Morning Joe" co-host said the White House hoped to push back against claims in Michael Wolff's new book that Trump is unfit for office and suffering mental decline, but she said the televised meeting actually proved those reports.
"There is absolutely nothing this president has done to prove that he's serious about anything or has any depth or capacity on any issue," Brzezinski said, "and that this was nothing more than a dog-and-pony show, where he was using Democrats and Republicans to try and show that he was fit when, in truth, he actually showed he had very little command of the issue."
Brzezinski told her co-cost Joe Scarborough, who earlier in Wednesday's program compared Trump to an addled "grandpa" who needed prodding to stay focused, that the meeting was so poorly executed that she was unable to comment on its legislative purpose.
"It's very hard to hypothesize about a potential deal on something like this that could come out of this," Brzezinski said. "Maybe I'm the, you know, snarkiest person out there, but at this point, who would think anything would come out of this? He doesn't even -- he's not consistent over the course of an hour."
