'He's absolutely complicit': Ex-Breitbart writer blasts Paul Ryan for letting Nunes 'run roughshod' with memo

A former Republican operative and Breitbart columnist on Friday said House Speaker Paul Ryan allowed Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) to "run roughshod" in the release of his controversial memo as a service to the party.

When asked by MSNBC host Katy Tur if Ryan appears to be protecting the president and the GOP's agenda, political commentator Kurt Bardella said he thinks "they're all in it together."

When working for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) when he served as chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Republican leadership would try to "rein in" the congressman and tell him to "take it slow" out of fear he'd overstep his authority, Bardella said.

"That’s when Barack Obama was in the Oval Office," he continued. "Now that trump’s there and they see their congressional majority is in significant peril come November in the midterm midterms, they’re completely changing the standards they set when they had control and Obama was in office to move the goalpost and really allow Nunes to run roughshod over congressional oversight."

"Ryan is absolutely complicit in this," he added.
