South Korea was blindsided by President Donald Trump's decision to cancel an upcoming summit with North Korea.


The U.S. ally was so taken aback by the president's letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that South Korean officials are reading and re-reading the letter in an attempt to understand it.

"We are attempting to make sense of what, precisely, President Trump means," said Kim Eui-kyeom, spokesman for South Korea's Blue House.
