President Donald Trump claimed at a Montana rally on Thursday that even his critics were angry with the New York Times about the anonymous op-ed by a senior White House official that slammed the president and said there was a resistance within the administration working to thwart him.

"You look at this horrible thing that happened today—is it subversion, is it treason?" Trump said. "It's a horrible thing."

Trump said that "today's Democrat [sic] party was held hostage by haters" but then said that even the "haters" were on his side about the op-ed.

"You know the good thing about that? Even liberals that hate me say 'that's terrible that they did that," he said.
