Meghan McCain returned to co-host "The View" more than a month after her father's funeral and thanked her colleagues for their support throughout a personally difficult year.

McCain thanked ABC for giving her time off following Sen. John McCain's Aug. 25 death, and she thanked each co-host individually.

"This woman has let me cry in her dressing room all year last year," McCain said, thanking host Whoopi Goldberg. "I would go in before the show and she would let me cry on her shoulder. She wears white blouses all the time. I have ruined it with mascara more times than I can say."

She then turned to new co-host Abby Huntsman, a close personal friend of hers.

"Abby, when my dad was first diagnosed I got wasted with you, and I drank so much," McCain said. "She was heavily pregnant and she watched me down Jack Daniels after Jack Daniels, and then I threw up and her sister held my hair back."

She thanked co-host Sunny Hostin for helping to drown her sorrows.

"When somebody dies, you need Sunny around because this is what she'll do," McCain said. "She will text you and say, 'You need to hide out at my house, I got it for you and I won't tell anyone. I'll give you lavender honey and hang out with my chickens.'

"You have been such a friend to me and amazing to me," she added. "I also got drunk with you a few weeks before the show."
