"Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough raked incoming acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney over the coals on Monday morning for defending President Donald Trump's wall - which Mulvaney had previously called "childish."
Over the weekend the current budget chief made the cable TV show rounds, defending Trump from every angle, while at the same time dismissing his previous -- and candid -- comments about Trump's wall.
After showing a clip of Mulvaney sidestepping Trump's boast that he was going to get Mexico to pay for the wall, the MSNBC host jumped all over the Trump defender.
"You're not going to get it from Mexico," Scarborough exclaimed. "You were never going to get it from Mexico. Everybody said you were never going to get it from Mexico and you know, back when you were talking about Donald Trump being a terrible human and talking about how stupid the wall was, you knew that Donald Trump was lying to voters that he was going to build a wall and get the money from Mexico."
"And yet you go on TV shows and God knows why, destroy your reputation," the MSNBC ranted before lecturing Mulvaney. "You had a good reputation as a deficit hawk when you were in Congress."
The exasperated Scarborough added, "I don't understand it. I never will. Why do people throw themselves under the bus for Donald Trump? It never ends well for them."
