On Saturday Night Live, cast members protraying Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen Chuck Schumer (D-NY) took over a segment of Weekend Update to troll President Donald Trump over his collapsed relationship with conservative gadfly Ann Coulter.

With SNL's Alex Moffat as Schumer and Kate McKinnon as Pelosi, the two needled Trump, with McKinnon recreating the House Majority leader's sarcastic clapping at the president.

“In the wake of what is being called a political victory, Democratic leaders have cautioned their rank and file not to gloat or celebrate the outcome excessively,” Update host Colin Jost said to kick off the segment.

“What is there to gloat about? I mean the president is a very tough negotiator,”a smirking Schumer said, with Pelosi dryly adding, "We are devastated with the outcome.”

Turning to the Coulter fallout, Schumer said, "I can only imagine what Ann Coulter is saying about it ----  let’s have a look,” before reading her “The only national emergency is that our president is an idiot” comment.

“Well, that’s not very nice, I thought she liked him,” he added.

Pelosi added, "That is shocking. I was shocked when I printed that out this morning,” as she held up the quote for the audience.
