The View's Meghan McCain sulks over asking 'permission' to criticize the Oscars

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain took a shot at her producers as part of an apparent ongoing feud over her role in the daytime talk show.

The panelists opened Monday's episode with a discussion of the Academy Awards show, which went without a host for the first time in decades, and host Joy Behar admitted she had not seen all of the program.

"My question to the panel is, how do you think they did without a host?" Behar said. "To me it seems weird, although I was asleep most of it."

Sunny Hostin strongly agreed the show needed a host, and she outlined a detailed list of which aspects she liked best about Sunday night's program, and co-host Abby Huntsman said she didn't mind the unusual format.

"I always fall asleep through the awards shows," Huntsman said. "I know this is the unpopular view, but I kind of liked no host. I wouldn't be surprised if other award shows go that route."

Hostin then asked McCain, who complained Friday that she's always the last to speak during panel discussion, what she thought of this year's Oscars broadcast.

"I fell asleep, too," McCain admitted, "and I asked permission for me to say that on air, because I don't know what is, like, socially acceptable. I did fall asleep."
