'Incredible hypocrisy': CNN panel explains how Trump's CPAC speech shows how the GOP 'lets anything go'
NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 26, 2018: President Donald Trump gestures to emphasize an issue as he delivers a speech at the Lotte Palace Hotel in the Villard Room (Shutterstock).

Over the weekend President Donald Trump spoke at CPAC and went off script, in what some pundits have called a bizarre speech. During a panel with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, guests said that Trump's speech simply showed the hypocrisy of the Republican Party.

"Were you surprised to hear the president go on and on and on?" Blitzer asked.

"I have to say, after covering this president for a while, it does not surprise me at all," CNN reporter Pamela Brown said.

"I agree with Pamela it's not surprising anymore," Washington Post reporter David Swerdlick said. "It underscores this incredible hypocrisy among people on the right and Republicans about the comportment they demanded from President Obama versus what they demand from President Trump."

" Rep. [Peter] King (R-NY) criticized Obama for wearing a tan suit. Not a perfect comparison because President Obama never said 'BS' in a speech. The idea now is that anything goes when all of that criticism happened before," Swerdlick said.
