Panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" erupted in laughter while discussing President Donald Trump's "bizarre" visit to Mount Vernon.

Politico reported that Trump visited George Washington's historic estate last year, and criticized the mansion as too small and boasted that he could have built a better home, for less money.

"The president said, quote, 'If he was smart, he would have put his name on it,' speaking about Mount Vernon," said co-host Willie Geist. "You have to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you."

"The tour guide that day, Mount Vernon president Doug Bradburn, according to Politico, told the president that Washington did, after all, succeed in getting the nation's capital named after him," Geist added. "Good point, Trump said, with a laugh."

The other panelists burst into laughter.

"Oh my god," said co-host Mika Brzezinski.

"Trump asked if Washington was really rich," Geist said, "added a second person familiar with the visit, adding that's what Trump was really most excited about. The White House did not comment on that story."
