President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani struck a defiant tone against the impending release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report.

The former New York City mayor said his team was putting the finishing touches on a rebuttal that could be released before Mueller's report, which has undergone redactions by Attorney General William Barr, reported the Washington Post.

"Ready to rumble," Giuliani told the Post in a text message sent at 5 a.m.

Trump has insisted Mueller had "exonerated" him since the special counsel submitted his report to Barr on March 24, but the attorney general stopped short of agreeing with that assessment.

Giuliani said his team's rebuttal would run "30 or so" pages "without appendix."
