Addressing the desperation exhibited by Donald Trump's administration to install controversial DOJ official Emil Bove on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, MSNBC legal analyst Melissa Murray claimed his path to also ending up on the Supreme Court may already be in the works.
Seen as Attorney General Pam Bondi's "enforcer," the abrasive Bove led the charge to get federal charges dropped against NYC Mayor Eric Adams, which led to an exodus of government attorneys working for the Southern District of New York.
What followed was Trump nominating lawyer to a lifetime job which has drawn a tremendous amount of opposition within the legal community based upon a highly critical whistleblower report.
On Sunday morning, Murray, who previously clerked for Justice Sonia Sotomayor before embarking on a distinguished legal career, pointed to the timing of putting Bove on an appeals court which could lead to the Supreme Court.
As she told host Ali Velshi, "This nomination seems to be a foregone conclusion, a fait accompli, but that, I think, only tees up more concerns because it seems very likely that Emil Bove is being set up for a seat on the United States Supreme Court."
"Samuel Alito, who, as you said, was someone who was launched from the third circuit, is a septuagenarian," she elaborated. 'He may want to step down. He may want to do so before the midterm and what could be a more symmetrical kind of move than to have someone from the third circuit, right? "
