President Donald Trump slammed members of the Supreme Court to their faces during his State of the Union Address on Tuesday evening, attacking them over their "unfortunate" ruling blocking his ability to impose tariffs unilaterally under emergency powers law — a situation he has vowed to rectify by finding other federal statutes to do the same thing.
Trump's rant earned enthusiastic adulation by far-right MAGA figures on social media — many of whom focused in on the expression worn by Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a right-wing Trump appointee who ruled against Trump's tariffs.
"It takes a lot of guts for President Trump to burn the Supreme Court right there in front of millions at the State of the Union. He's got balls. Lol," wrote the account "Sassafrass84." "And Amy Comey Barrett doesn't have a poker face."
"BREAKING: President Trump just told the Supreme Court Justices to their FACES that their anti-tariff ruling BACKFIRED because his tariffs will remain in place John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett are trying very hard to keep a straight face," wrote Eric Daugherty of Florida's Voice News. "'The Supreme Court's UNFORTUNATE involvement...' 'Congressional action WILL NOT be necessary!'"
"POTUS TOTALLY IGNORED JUSTICE AMY CONEY BARRETT. THAT WAS GLORIOUS!" wrote the account "Tiffany Savage."
