MAGA lawmaker told to ‘kindly shut up’ after ‘whining and crying’ over war she supported

In a reversal of her previous position, Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) called for the U.S. war against Iran to be brought to an “immediate end” amid skyrocketing fuel prices, but was promptly told to “kindly shut up” after critics flagged her months-long support for the unpopular conflict.

“Iowans are being squeezed and shouldn’t have to foot the bill at the pump or the checkout line for the war in Iran,” Hinson, the GOP Senate nominee in Iowa, said in a statement Monday. “The war needs to be brought to a successful and immediate end.”

As noted by countless critics, however, Hinson had blocked several efforts to bring the war to an end, and was even touted by the White House as being an early supporter of the conflict. According to NBC News’ Sahil Kapur, Hinson had voted against House resolutions directing Trump to end the war six times, “including as recently as last week.”

“Ashley Hinson out with a statement whining and crying about the consequences of the war she supported,” wrote journalist Ryan Grim in a social media post on X.

“If you read far enough in, you find she’s calling for an end to it. But just last week the House voted on a war powers resolution to end the war and she voted against it. Polls have her losing her senate race in Iowa.”

Others, like prominent Democratic influencer Harry Sisson, were more blunt in their condemnation of Hinson’s pivot.

“You voted to continue the Iran War [six] times. Kindly shut the f--- up,” Sisson wrote in a social media post on X.

Former Democratic Rep. Dave Loebsack of Iowa called Hinson’s pivot “rich” given that she had “100% supported every one of Trump’s policies that led to the current disasters facing [Iowans],” and Hinson’s Democratic opponent, Josh Turek, weighed in as well.

“It's easy to send a tweet but when you had the chance to vote to end this war, you chose not to,” Turek wrote in a social media post on X. “You voted [six] times to continue it, including just last week. It's time to actually end the forever wars and put Iowa and Iowans first.”
