Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) made a comment that some are saying is "revealing" in terms of what it says about Donald Trump's so-called "big, beautiful" bill.

CNN's Manu Raju reported on a conversation with Cramer, who admitted that Republicans are worried that opposition to the bill might grow if there is a delay in its passage.

Specifically, Cramer told Raju that the bill "doesn't get any easier" to pass as people have more time to review it.

Matt Fuller, Capitol Hill bureau chief for NOTUS, flagged the comment.

"Sen. Kevin Cramer saying the bill 'doesn’t get any easier' if it hangs out there during recess is pretty revealing," Fuller said on Saturday. The journalist then added, "If what you’re passing is popular, why wouldn’t you want people to know what you’re passing?"

Former government official Neera Tanden also chimed in on X, saying, "Everyone recognize that they are rushing to pass this bill precisely because the public hates it and they want fewer people to know about it -- which is to say they want to bamboozle you."

The comment comes as Democrats have pushed for a delay tactic of requiring the bill be read aloud before a full vote.
