President Joe Biden is not expected to face criminal charges linked to classified documents found in his Delaware home and private office, according to a new NBC report.
Special counsel Robert Hur will issue the report on his year-long Justice department probe in the coming days, but charges are not expected, a senior law enforcement official told NBC.
The probe was tied to classified government documents sent to Biden’s Wilmington home and Washington, D.C., office before he was elected president in January 2021, the report notes.
The documents should have been sent to the National Archives in early 2017, after Biden's tenure as vice president ended, under U.S. law.
While it appears Biden will not face criminal charges linked to classified documents, the same cannot be said of former President Donald Trump.
Trump pleaded not guilty in a Florida federal court in 2022 after FBI agents found hundreds of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.
