President Joe Biden on Saturday condemned the shooting that erupted at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania and said that he was reaching out to his presumptive rival in the 2024 election to check on his wellbeing.

Speaking on Saturday evening shortly after Trump was whisked away from the rally by the Secret Service, Biden condemned political violence.

"Look, there's no place in America for this kind of violence," he said. "It's sick. It's sick. It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this."

Biden then thanked the United States Secret Service for doing their job to keep Trump safe and also expressed concern for any other Trump rally attendees who were injured or potentially killed as a result of the shooting.

Law enforcement officials have told multiple sources that, although there were gunshots at the Pennsylvania rally, Trump himself was struck by glass fragments that possibly came from a bullet hitting his teleprompter.

Trump was then swarmed by Secret Service agents and take in an armored vehicle to a hospital where he was given medical treatment.

Police have also said that the shooting suspect has been killed although no details have yet been released about their identity.
