For the first time since she appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee after Donald Trump nominated her to be Attorney General, Pam Bondi will face questioning on Tuesday at 9AM EST.
Bondi, a former Florida attorney general, was confirmed by the Senate in February on a 54-46 vote — with only Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) crossing the aisle for her — after she was substituted in by the Trump administration after the nomination of ex-Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) crashed and burned.
According to a report from ABC on Tuesday, Bondi can expect a grilling from Democrats — with the war over the Jeffrey Epstein files likely to be front and center.
ABC is reporting, “The hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee is the first time since July that Bondi has faced questions from lawmakers and follows a tumultuous summer for the department that included deployments of federal law enforcement to Democratic-run cities, a growing number of investigations announced into Trump's political foes and the controversial."
The report added, “On Monday, nearly 300 DOJ employees who left the department since Trump's inauguration released a letter on the eve of Bondi's hearing describing her leadership as "appalling" in its treatment of the career workforce and the elimination of longstanding norms of independence from the White House.“
