A food bank in Vermont is rejecting donations from a Republican event that is based on a slur against President Joe Biden.

The Brandon Area Food Shelf told VTDigger that donations from a "Let's Go Brandon" event would be declined.

In recent months, Republicans have begun using the phrase "Let's Go Brandon" as a euphemism for "F--ck Joe Biden." GOP chair Paul Dame arranged Saturday's event in his hometown of Brandon.

The event featured sales of hats and T-shirts with the "Let's Go Brandon" slogan. Organizers said that part of the proceeds would go to the food bank.

"The Food Shelf was not informed of this 'happening,'" food shelf Director Kathy Mathis insisted.

“It annoys me that they went ahead and did this without even contacting the food shelf itself," Mathis explained to the Times Argus. “And I understand their intentions are good but nevertheless, blowing it up on social media as a Republican big event, it looks to me as if, and to anybody who's reading it, it looks like the Brandon Area Food Shelf supports the Republican Party, and I resent that."

Dame has said that the proceeds from the event would be redirected to another unnamed charity.
