During a recent appearance on the Real America's Voice network, Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said that Democrats orchestrated their own "political narrative" surrounding the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
According to Greene, then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi "ignored" safety precautions and intelligence leading up to Jan. 6 -- all claims she likely lifted from a 2022 report from House Republicans that claimed Pelosi had a key role in the security and intelligence failures that left the Capitol vulnerable to attack.
An AP fact check of the claims found that GOP Leader McConnell had similar authority over the security officials that day and Pelosi did not "call off" the National Guard as Greene claims.
Greene then mentioned footage taken by Pelosi's daughter Alexandra during the riot which was later used for a documentary about the former Speaker's career, saying she used the footage "so their family could make millions of dollars later by selling the video footage in a documentary."
"I believe that is one of the most abusive things and the biggest sign of corruption from Nancy Pelosi that the American people will see thus far," Greene said.
Greene said that "while all of us" were confused "that day when the Capitol was breached" and "had no idea it was going to happen," Pelosi "clearly knew what was going on and they had a plan the entire time."
