Christian Ziegler is reportedly seeking a massive payout to resign as chair of Florida's Republican Party.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) and other leading Republicans in the state have called for him to step down in the wake of a rape investigation involving a woman with whom he and his wife – Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler – had allegedly been involved in a sexual relationship — but sources told Florida Politics he wants cash to go away.
"Multiple sources confirm Ziegler has asked for a massive payout — one source said $2 million — to go away. Officials within the state party confirmed emissaries for Ziegler approached the party on his behalf," reported the website's Jacob Ogles.
"But one RPOF official said the party is in no position to offer Ziegler any money. Another was skeptical any request would be entertained, because the party already set a process in motion to force Ziegler out of power."

GOP officials are expected to launch an investigation Sunday and potentially impose sanctions against Ziegler, including expulsion from the party.
The Sarasota County School Board approved a resolution Tuesday calling for Bridget Ziegler to resign, and she has already lost her job with the Washington-based Leadership Institute.
