Another New Year's Eve brings with it another opportunity for the world to watch the polite and proper CNN journalist, Anderson Cooper, willingly humiliate himself on live television.
Thus it began with tequila shots, which Cooper knocked back before unleashing such a face of disgust that social media couldn't help but laugh.

"WE ARE BLESSED THIS YEAR #CNNNYE," posted Nadia with an emoji of a shot glass and the video of Cooper's disgust.

Cooper began hosting the CNN bash in 2002 after former host Miles O'Brien's updates from Times Square were so popular that CNN turned it into a night of hosts covering parties around the country.
It first featured comedian Kathy Griffin until her performance art photo of a headless Donald Trump got her booted from the show in 2017. Since then Cooper has been stuck with the, at times, cringe-worthy Andy Cohen. The Cooper side-kick is most known for his successful empire of television shows that ridicule wealthy Americans as out-of-control "psychos," as one review put it.
When former network chief Chris Licht took over the network he cut down on the drinking, turning the normally silly and fun evening into something similar to a church lock-in. In 2022, even actor John Stamos let it slip that the men were more entertaining when they were drinking. The 2023 New Year's Eve on CNN comes after Licht quit the network, having failed to meet most of the demands for which he was hired.
