Broadcaster Don Lemon was arrested in connection with a protest against President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown in Minnesota.
The longtime CNN host was among dozens of protesters who rushed into a St. Paul church whose pastor appears to lead a local field office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Lemon was taken into custody Thursday after Trump and his MAGA allies have demanded their arrests, reported CNN.
"A small group of elderly ladies were protesting at an abortion clinic and were given 40 years in prison for violating the FACE Act," read a post from a MAGA account boosted by Trump on his own Truth Social page. "I would like to see the same kind of sentence for Don Lemon and the people that (sic) broke into the church during the service."
Lemon has maintained that he was covering the protest as a journalist, and a magistrate judge rejected an attempt by the Department of Justice to charge him with a crime.
It's not clear what crime Lemon has been charged with in the case.
