Activists in Portland, Oregon, plan to hold an "emergency" nude bike ride to "stand up for justice" against President Donald Trump as he pushes to bring National Guard troops to the Pacific Northwest town.
An offshoot organization of the World Naked Bike Ride group announced the ride on Wednesday, The Hill reported.
“Emergency World Naked Bike Ride coming up in response to the militarization of our city. Plans are being worked on," the group, which generally focuses on promoting body positivity and decreasing reliance on fossil fuels, wrote on Instagram.
Lawyers for the city of Portland and state of Oregon were set to urge federal Judge Michael H. Simon to stop the Oregon National Guard from deploying to protect the federal immigration building in Portland and return control to the governor. On Thursday, the Trump administration filed a "suggestion of recusal" to force the federal judge to recuse himself from the case over his wife's "numerous critical statements."
By Thursday afternoon, Simon had recused himself from the case. Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, was reportedly assigned to it.
