Former President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he attended his $250 million fraud trial to deliver the "true story."
Following the questioning of the defense's final expert witness, Trump emerged from the courtroom to deliver a 5-minute rant to reporters and television cameras.
"This is just a witch hunt," Trump said. "With all of the problems that New York has, that this horrible, absolutely horrible, attorney general would do this is disgraceful."
The former president explained why he was attending trial instead of on the campaign trail.
"I should be right now in Iowa, in New Hampshire, South Carolina," he said. "I shouldn't be sitting in a courthouse, and I don't have to sit here. I could just do whatever I want to do, but I want to make sure that you get the true story."
Trump then repeated the false claim that President Joe Biden withheld more boxes of classified documents from the federal government than he had.

"You know, you read the other day where they leaked out that Biden has no problem with the boxes," he remarked. "But let's see what happens with that. He had probably 10 or 15 or 20 times more boxes than we did."
Trump has previously said Biden withheld 1,850 boxes of classified documents. The Associated Press declared Trump's claim was false.
"While the FBI has searched the Delaware university records as part of a larger search for classified documents, there is no evidence they were withheld from authorities in any way," an AP assessment found.
