'He's already been busted!' Morning Joe rips Trump 'tantrum' outside fraud trial
MSNBC

Donald Trump ranted and raged outside the courtroom against the New York judge overseeing his fraud trial, and MSNBC's Joe Scarborough didn't see that strategy ending well for him -- or anyone else.

The former president excoriated Supreme Court justice Arthur Engoron during a break as a "disgrace" who should be disbarred and criminally charged, and "Morning Joe" co-host Willie Geist displayed newspaper photos of Trump's face contorted with rage during his courthouse "tantrum," while host Joe Scarborough said most defendants would face consequences for such an attack.

"Any other defendant in America in this position that's already been found guilty of fraud, the evidence is very clear, again, everybody in New York for decades knew that's what he would do, you would actually have someone get on the stand and apologize ... and throw [themselves] on the mercy of the court," Scarborough said.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

Trump could probably have gotten off with probation if he had followed that strategy and promised to clean up his financial filings, Scarborough said, but instead he chose to rage against the likely dissolution of his family business and possibly hundreds of millions in fines.

"Instead, you have Donald Trump, who has been caught – this is the bank robber that has been caught, or this is the congressman caught in ABSCAM with money in his pockets, like jammed into his pockets, looking like the Michelin man because he has so much money jammed into his coat pockets," Scarborough said. "You know, yelling and screaming about unfairly being prosecuted."

"He's already been busted," Scarborough added. "Like, he's already been caught lying, he's already been caught saying that he had a 30,000-square foot-residence when it was, like, 10,000 square feet, okay, claiming that he had the most expensive property in all of New York City. Well, that was a lie, as well. What is he doing? He is doing the exact opposite of what he should be doing. He's continuing to drive his car off the cliff. He leaves his lawyers in a no-win position. After it's over, he'll probably call for the execution of the judge like he called for the execution of Gen. [Mark] Milley. It's a zero-sum game, and it's a game he loses every time."
