Donald Trump claimed Thursday that the Biden administration had "taken control" of his prosecution in Manhattan.

The former president appeared earlier in court, where justice Juan Merchan ruled that Trump would stand trial starting March 25 in the business fraud case involving his hush money payments to adult movie actress Stormy Daniels. After it finished, he took to his social media platform to claim that the Department of Justice had taken over the case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

"Just left the Courthouse in Manhattan. Biden’s DOJ people have taken control of the case," Trump posted on Truth Social. "There was NO CRIME, and almost all legal scholars are saying that. It’s Election Interference, the Dems 2024 way of cheating!"

Trump made a similar claim before arriving at the courthouse.

"Heading to yet another Courthouse in Manhattan on a case that would have never been brought if I wasn’t running for Pres," he posted. "The Biden DOJ has its top person here in charge. Case should have never been brought, there is no crime. They want it before Election - Could have been brought 3 years ago. They waited until Election Period. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!"
