The prosecutor questioning Donald Trump’s expert witness in his $250 million civil fraud trial suggested Thursday the former president is trying to throw his accountants “under the bus” to save himself, according to reports.

State attorney Kevin Wallace questioned Jason Flemmons in the New York City courtroom about his work with the Securities and Exchange Commission, ABC News reported from inside the courtroom.

“Did you ever encounter issuers facing allegations of fraud [try] to throw their accountants under the bus?" Wallace reportedly asked.

ABC News dubbed the question a “jab” at Trump’s defense that accountants were to blame for any inflated worth of Trump Organization assets reported in financial filings.

Trump has denied wrongdoing in the civil fraud case brought by Attorney General Letitia James.

Judge Arthur Engoron chuckled, but sustained a hasty objection from Trump attorney Chris Kise, according to Stewart Bishop, a Law360 reporter covering the trial.

Wallace then asked Flemmons how much he is being paid during his testimony, according to Bishop. Flemmons reportedly put the number at $925 an hour.
