Voters signal 'it's going to be a long year' for Trump and GOP 'radicals': Morning Joe
MSNBC

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said Tuesday's election results should serve as a warning to Donald Trump and "radical" Republicans heading into next year.

Democrats notched wins in Kentucky's gubernatorial race and Virginia's legislative races, while voters overwhelmingly approved abortion rights in Ohio, and the "Morning Joe" host said the GOP losing streak since the right's handpicked U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade could very well bleed into the 2024 election because voters don't believe Trump is a moderate on women's rights.

"Here's the only problem," Scarborough said. "[We've] got clip after clip after clip after clip of Donald Trump bragging, 'I was the one who killed Roe v. Wade, I put the judges in who took away the right for abortion, I destroyed Roe v. Wade' – it's all over the place. Donald Trump should expect to see all of these victims of rape, all of these victims of these women who were bleeding out because they couldn't get treatment because of Donald Trump."

The right-wing Federalist Society and its former head Leonard Leo spent a generation engineering a Supreme Court that would end reproductive rights, and Trump put the finishing touches on that project by appointing three right-wing justices with the help of Mitch McConnell and a GOP Senate who blocked Barack Obama from nominating one to replace the late Antonin Scalia.

"Because of Leonard Leo, because of radicals on the Supreme Court, he can expect to see those girls, those girls who had to flee the state when they were raped by an illegal immigrant, those girls who had to flee the state because they were raped by a member of their own family, that the doctors were afraid to provide even life-saving care because of Donald Trump," Scarborough said. "Because of Leonard Leo's radical Supreme Court, all of those young women, whose lives have been made a living and breathing hell because of Donald Trump and that list of people, Donald Trump can expect and he should expect – and he deserves to expect – to hear that throughout 2024, along with a clip that said, 'Yeah, I was the one who killed Roe v. Wade.'"

"He made their lives a living and breathing hell," Scarborough added. "Bleed outside of operating rooms where they could have been saved, because, well, Donald Trump and Leonard Leo, the guy who has $1.4 billion now trying to rig every federal judiciary selection, he's already done it to the U.S. Supreme Court. You sit back and wonder, why in the world do we have 10-year-old girls who are raped by illegal immigrants fleeing the state to get an abortion? Because of the Supreme Court, because of what happened. Because the buying of the United States Supreme Court that Donald Trump did. Donald Trump meekly and blindly followed along, and now he's bragging, 'I'm the one who killed Roe v. Wade. Lots of luck with that, Donald, it's going to be a long year."
