Two Democrats reportedly barged into House Speaker Mike Johnson's office on Wednesday and confronted him about Elon Musk's access to the Treasury Department's sensitive payments system.
Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) told reporters Wednesday that Gwen Moore (D-WI) "forced her way" into Johnson's office — "and then I got to go in right behind her," according to Politico.
"And she was already confronting Speaker Johnson about Treasury Secretary [Scott] Bessent and the stealing of Americans’ private information, tax information that should never be stolen and given to this billionaire Elon Musk," said Chu.
Moore said Bessent was not in the room during the intrusion, according to the report. He had been in Johnson's office earlier to meet with Republican Rep. Jason Smith (MO), chair of the House Ways and Means Committee.

The episode unfolded amid growing Democratic backlash to the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, chair reportedly gaining full control over the sensitive payment system code that directs Social Security payments, tax returns and other payments owed to Americans.
Lawmakers were told by Treasury Department officials Tuesday that Musk and his DOGE associates currently have “read-only” access to the system.
A witness described the encounter by the two lawmakers Wednesday as " aggressive and frankly unhinged behavior."
"The Speaker was more than gracious and allowed the members into his personal office to hear their concerns," according to the witness, who asked not to be named, told Politico.
