If Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis recuses herself from prosecuting former President Donald Trump, it could kill her Georgia election racketeering case, according to a former federal prosecutor.
CNN legal analyst Jennifer Rodgers explained Thursday the potential consequences of Willis — accused of having an improper relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade — removing herself from the Trump trial.
"I think if she steps aside this is effectively over," Rodgers said.
That's because not only Willis, but Willis' entire office would be recused, said Rodgers.
"There's a commission that would then look to try to appoint another prosecutor's office," former federal prosecutor Jennifer Rodgers explained on CNN's News Central.

Rodgers also said that a best case scenario if Willis steps down would be for the case to be "significantly" delayed.
According to reports, Willis has no plans to step down.
CNN reports that Willis has until this Friday to give a written response to the allegations leveled by Mike Roman, a former Trump campaign operative from 2020 who is a co-defendant in the case.
