'We don't owe him anything': Alyssa Farah Griffin says government officials swore no oath to Trump
ABC

Former President Donald Trump lashed out during his Fox News interview with Bret Baier against Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former communications official in his administration who renounced him following the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — but Griffin, speaking to CNN on Tuesday, had a simple and blunt response to the former president.

"Your name came up with the former president of Fox on Monday," said anchor Anderson Cooper. "I just want to play that."

"Something happens," complained Trump in the clip. "When people leave, they can like me very much. I had this woman named Alyssa Farrah. She said the greatest things. He's the greatest president, he's unbelievable. Then "The View" offered a contract only if she changed her views and she can say negative things. Money gets offered to people and some people change."

"His breathing seems weird to me," joked Cooper, adding, "But I want to let you respond."

"Just as a simple fact pattern, I was on Fox News on January 7th, 2021, where I denounced him and said he was unfit for office and should resign, and I've done that every week since," said Griffin. "Didn't join 'The View' until nearly two years later. But Donald Trump doesn't seem to understand that those of us who've served in his administration, we swore an oath to the Constitution. We did not swear an oath of loyalty to Donald Trump. I would never swear one to any politician. And I think he needs to realize, we don't owe him anything."

Griffin is not alone. A huge number of prominent one-time Trump appointees and associates have since turned against him, from his one-time communications director Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted barely more than a week in office; to his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who cooperated against him in multiple investigations; to his former Attorney General William Barr, who has debunked his election conspiracy theories and now publicly speculates he will go to prison over the classified documents case.
