Jerome Corsi’s lawyer whines that guilty plea would hurt his YouTube conspiracy theory business
Conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi's attorney offered special counsel Robert Mueller a novel legal defense for why his client could not plead guilty for lying to the FBI.
"Mueller also sent Corsi a draft plea agreement stipulating that the special counsel would not oppose Corsi requesting a sentence of probation if he agreed to plead guilty to one count of lying to a federal investigator," NBC News reported on Tuesday.
Corsi's lawyer, David Gray, offered an intriguing response letter.
While Corsi would not serve prison time under the plea deal, it would hamper his financial rewards from spreading conspiracy theories on YouTube.
"Gray also noted that if Corsi were to plead guilty, he would have to give up his securities license and cease his online chats until sentencing, depriving him of crucial sources of income," NBC noted.
As of publication, Corsi has 43,889 subscribes on YouTube.
In March, Corsi complained that he had been banned from YouTube.
His channel was subsequently reinstated, Gizmodo reported the next day.
"Though it’s not clear at this time why, the termination notice has been removed from Jerome Corsi’s channel," Gizmodo noted. "YouTube has not replied to repeated requests for comment."
