President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he has planned a National Mall makeover and complained how the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial was "filth" — and he wants to renovate it.
Trump shared a post on Truth Social with a video of the site and his plans to change the location, The Daily Beast reported.
“This is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool before Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and I fix it,” Trump wrote. “Study it hard because you won’t be seeing this Biden filth and incompetence much longer!”
The dramatized video featured a black and white view of the location, with a hint of a sewer green filter, played to the tune of Andrea Bocelli's iconic “Time to Say Goodbye." In the short clip, the text told people to get ready to "Make D.C. Beautiful Again."
Former President Joe Biden did not build the Lincoln Memorial or reflecting pool. It was designed to reflect the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, which was constructed in 1923, and at the time meant to highlight the new memorial.
Trump has made several changes to the White House throughout his second term, including adding ornate gold to the Oval Office and new signage, removing the rose garden to create a patio similar to Mar-a-Lago and demolishing the entire East Wing to make room for a multi-million dollar ballroom.
