Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) on Wednesday rushed to change the subject during an interview on Fox News when asked about specifics of the indictment leveled against former President Donald Trump.
During the interview, reporter Carley Shimkus pointed out that "inside the indictment it did say that [Trump’s] handling of classified documents could have put our national security, our military members at risk."
She then asked him how he felt about that -- and he immediately pivoted to attacking President Joe Biden.
"Well, first of all, you have President Biden, who is running for reelection and his DOJ going after his number-one contender in a general election next year," said Steube, who was wearing a red "Make America Great Again" baseball hat. "That's election interference, that's exactly what it is! If Trump wasn't polling as high as he is, or he wasn't running, this wouldn't be happening! It's the complete weaponization of the DOJ!"

Special counsel Jack Smith's indictment of the former president on Espionage Act-related charges is considered to be a serious risk to the former president even by many Republicans, although few of Trump's GOP rivals so far have publicly attacked him for it.
