'Gross, cruel, disgusting': Trump fans' attacks on Tim Walz's son leveled by MSNBC host

On Friday morning, MSNBC "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski dropped the hammer on conservatives and Donald Trump supporters who mocked the emotional exchange between Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and his son Gus on Wednesday night.

In the now-viral clip, Gus Walz, who has a nonverbal learning disorder and suffers from anxiety issues, was seen tearfully pointing at his father and exclaiming, "That's my dad."

As USA Today reported, following the clip spreading on social media, "Conservative columnist and right-wing provocateur Ann Coulter mocked the teenager’s tears. 'Talk about weird,' she wrote on X. The message has since been deleted. Mike Crispi, a Trump supporter and podcaster from New Jersey, mocked Walz’s 'stupid crying son' on X and added, 'You raised your kid to be a puffy beta male. Congrats.' Alec Lace, a Trump supporter who hosts a podcast about fatherhood, took his own swipe at the teenager: 'Get that kid a tampon already,' he wrote, an apparent reference to a Minnesota state law that Walz signed as governor in that required schools to provide free menstrual supplies to students."

Trump supporter and conservative influencer Laura Loomer also piled on, which led to Brzezinski going off on Friday morning.

"I hate to even give this energy or put it out there, but even the reaction to Tim Walz's son loving his father and tears of joy was mocked by these right-wingers who claim to be political analysts," she stated. "I mean, that is, to me, like, that was the biggest miss I've ever seen in terms of trying to counter what's happening at a convention from the other side."

"It was gross, it was ugly, it was cruel. It was disgusting, it was vulgar," she continued. "It was everything you don't want to be in a human being — but they keep missing."
