
Members of the Proud Boys right-wing militia paraded outside Capital One Arena demanding the release of their comrades who are jailed on Jan. 6 charges.
About 50 militants chanted "free our boys" outside the Washington, D.C., venue Monday, about two minutes after Donald Trump was sworn into office, reported NBC News correspondent Vaughn Hillyard.
"F*ck Joe Biden," the right-wing militants shouted as they approached the area. "F*ck antifa. Whose streets? Our streets."
Trump has pledged to pardon at least some of the Jan. 6 defendants, but it's not clear whether that will include Enrique Tarrio, the former Proud Boys chairman who is serving 22 years in prison for a conviction on seditious conspiracy charges, or other Proud Boys members convicted of seditious conspiracy and other charges related to the insurrection.

The militants wore black-and-gold Proud Boys clothing and hats and carried pro-Trump signs, and they also chanted "51st state," an apparent reference to the newly inaugurated president's suggestion that Canada should be merged with the U.S.
The extremist group is known for engaging in street violence against anti-fascist activists, and Trump infamously urged them to “stand back and stand by” during his first debate in 2020 with Joe Biden.
