President Donald Trump on Monday slammed a Republican lawmaker who defied his redistricting demands to gain more Republican seats in Congress, calling him "weak and pathetic."
Trump had threatened to withdraw his support for Indiana GOP Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric Bray, who announced on Friday that the state's chamber would not convene in December to redraw district maps, Politico reports.
By Monday, Trump had posted this on his Truth Social platform:
"In the entire United States of America, Republican or Democrat, only Indiana 'Republican' State Senator Rod Bray, a Complete and Total RINO, is opposed to redistricting for purposes of gaining additional Seats in Congress. The Democrats have proven to be dishonest and untrustworthy in anything having to do with Elections or Election Integrity. Republicans must be TOUGH and SMART if we are going to WIN the Midterms. The Rod Brays of Politics are WEAK and PATHETIC. I wish he cared about saving our Country as much as Democrats care about destroying it. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Trump also posted a few minutes after this:
"Lines are forming to run against RINO Indiana Senator Rod Bray, and those few other Senators who support him, in the upcoming Primaries. Every one of them will lose, in Record Numbers. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAGA!"
Bray last week said the redistricting measure lacked the votes to pass, even with a GOP supermajority.
Trump also threatened to withdraw support for Indiana State Sen. Greg Goode and Gov. Mike Braun, who have not sided with him over redistricting. Over the weekend, Goode was targeted by swatting after the president's Truth Social post about him.
