Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance tried to visit the Shake Shack in Union Station, only to be disrupted by angry travelers and protesters shouting.
In a video posted by Huffington Post reporter Igor Bobic, the group, including Trump deputy Stephen Miller, rolled into Washington, D.C.'s Union Station, which has been surrounded by military and federal agents this week.
The stop off at Shake Shack, where some soldiers were standing, earned some cheers and several boos, reported Bobic.
"F--- you, JD!" one man shouted.
One woman with a rolling suitcase shouted up at the balcony, "Free DC!" and other comments, the video showed.
MSNBC posted the scene from where Vance and Hegseth were meeting with soldiers. According to Miller, the protesters were "elderly white hippies." The video does not confirm the assertion, however.
"The noise was clearly audible upstairs," confirmed Bobic.
As the crowd grew, police began to clear the hallway, quieting the jeers. One officer could be seen shoving a protester taking a photo while carrying a bullhorn.
Vance claimed that National Guard members told him that they were “so happy” to have the support of the White House on the D.C. streets. About 1,000 National Guard soldiers from seven red states have been sent to the nation's capital.
“Let’s free DC from lawlessness,” Vance said.
Local D.C. reports revealed that restaurants have experienced a 30% decrease in diners since the agents and soldiers began flooding the streets, despite the often celebrated Restaurant Week.
