'Just say it!' CNN's Jim Acosta dares GOP guest to claim voter fraud

CNN host Jim Acosta got into a testy exchange with former Trump White House Associate Counsel May Mailman on Friday when she seemed to imply that there was something suspicious going on in a California election in which a Democrat just this week overtook a Republican incumbent three weeks after the election took place.

Referencing the current race between Democrat Adam Gray and Rep. John Durate (R-CA), Mailman complained that California was still counting ballots in late November when most other races across the country have been called.

"I'm more concerned that California is still counting votes," she explained. "This is something that California really has to figure out. The election was almost a month ago. There are still more than 100,000 votes outstanding. Some of the tight races, the Republican was up by more than 1,000 votes, and now they're losing. They do not even allow voter ID..."

At this point, Acosta interjected.

"Hold on," he said. "You're not suggesting there's something untoward going on. Please do not tell me that."

Mailman insisted that she wasn't challenging the legitimacy of the election but was merely saying that the state shouldn't be taking so long to finalize its results.

Acosta and Democrat Karen Finney pointed out that other states, including Iowa and Massachusetts, were still tabulating results in close races.

"There are other elections that haven't been called," Acosta said. "So you're insinuating that California is up to no good. Is that what you're doing, May? Because you might as well just say it. Just say it!"
