Jim Jordan expands his investigation into Alvin Bragg after unprecedented Trump indictment

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) invited former Manhattan prosecutor Matthew Colangelo to appear for an interview with the House Judicial Committee to discuss Donald Trump's indictment.

The former president was indicted last month on 34 counts of business fraud by Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, whose office Colangelo worked in before quitting in frustration over the slow pace of Trump investigations, and Jordan said he wanted to speak to the former prosecutor about the origins of the case.

Democrats plan to use GOP's old tricks to roll in 2024: CNN

Democrats are planning to use a strategy engineered by former George W. Bush strategist Karl Rove to drive up turnout in next year's elections.

Rove boosted Republican turnout in 2004 by pushing ballot initiatives to ban same-sex marriage in swing states to help re-elect George W. Bush, and Democrats are hoping to copy the strategy by capitalizing on the backlash to last year's Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, reported CNN.

Kari Lake instructs Iowans to grill 2024 candidates about election fraud

NEVADA, Iowa — Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake told Iowans Thursday she’s willing to “do anything I can” to help former President Donald Trump get back into office.

Lake addressed about 80 people at the Story County Republicans’ Lincoln Highway Dinner. Her visit comes as Iowans are beginning to consider 2024 Republican caucus candidates, but Lake is likely not running for president. She is still fighting in the courts over her claims of election fraud in her 2022 loss to Democrat Katie Hobbs.

A member of the audience asked Lake whether she would consider serving as Trump’s running mate in 2024.

Biden administration proposes rule saying trans athlete bans violate Title IX

President Joe Biden’s administration on Thursday said it will propose a rule to ensure transgender students can participate in school sports. The proposed rule comes a day after lawmakers in Kansas overrode Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto to block transgender students from participating in girls and women’s sports. The Department of Education’s proposed rule would say that laws like the one passed in Kansas violate federal Title IX laws, which prevent discrimination on the basis or sex, while also allowing some schools to adopt policies that limit transgender participation in sports at the ...

Biden, California lawmakers going to war against ‘junk fees’ on hotels, concert tickets and airlines

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Think of “junk fees” this way, says Susan Rice: You go to a department store and buy a pair of blue jeans. At the register, you pay the price that’s marked on the item plus tax. Period. But buy a concert ticket, an airline ticket, or pay your cable bill, and it’s too often not that simple, said Rice, President Joe Biden’s domestic policy adviser. The concert ticket may be advertised at $150. The airline ticket was listed at $200. But when you get the bill, it costs more due to a “convenience fee,” or “service fee” or seating charge or whatever. In California and Washington...
