Bernie Sanders says true economic crisis is 'corporate greed' — and GOP Congress would make it worse

Entering the final stretch of the midterm campaign, Sen. Bernie Sanders warned in a Fox News op-ed Friday that the United States is in the midst of an economic crisis caused by corporate greed—and that a Republican-controlled Congress would "make a bad situation even worse."

"During this campaign, my Republican colleagues talk a lot about inflation, and they are right to do so," Sanders (I-Vt.) wrote. "Over the last year, Americans have become sick and tired of paying outrageously high prices for food, gas, healthcare, prescription drugs, housing, and other necessities."

'This is the scary thing': Trump insider lawyers 'have no idea' who will be indicted after the midterms

According to a report from CNN, Donald Trump may announce his run for the 2024 Republican Party nomination on Nov. 14, but another announcement -- or announcements -- may preempt the former president's third bid for the presidency which could complicate its impact.

The report states that the Department of Justice will be free of their "quiet period" on announcing criminal investigations or indictments related to the Jan. 6 insurrection after the midterm election on Tuesday, and lawyers for members of Trump's inner circle have no idea if their clients may be one of those named.

"This is a very strong economy," writes popular University of Michigan School of Economics Professor Justin Wolfers, a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution.

According to a report from the Washington Post, the growing sea-change in Arizona, which appeared to be becoming more of a swing-state based on the 2020 election results, is going back to being a conservative bastion thanks to the work of a pro-Trump youth group that has bullied and threatened moderate Republicans in the state to fall in line.

As the Post reports, Turning Point USA has become a force in Arizona based upon "...audio recordings of private meetings, personal messages and interviews with more than 80 people, including current and former Turning Point employees, public officials and their staffers, political consultants and state and local party activists who have interacted with the nonprofit’s leaders."

Is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis emerging as the new and improved Donald Trump?

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has the elite credentials of a prototypical US presidential candidate, from graduating with honors from Yale and Harvard Law School to earning a bronze star for meritorious service in the military. The man seen as a possible 2024 Republican nominee – and a political successor to Donald Trump – appears on track for re-election on November 8. But he may find that Trump casts a long shadow.

Ron DeSantis has a Trump problem. The man touted as a likely contender for the 2024 Republican nomination needs to keep the former president on side, given that Trump still wields some influence as a kingmaker. But he must also maintain enough distance to appeal to conservative voters who have turned their backs on Trump.

People around the world have expressed concerns about Israelis empowering indicted former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to form the nation's most far-right government in history since Israel held its fifth election in less than four years on Tuesday.

On Thursday, the Miami Herald reported that a jury has convicted a South Florida supporter of former President Donald Trump who shot at two people in a conflict that erupted over a flag supporting then-candidate, now President Joe Biden on a jet ski.

"The six-person jury deliberated less than two hours in convicting Eduardo Acosta, 39, on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and armed robbery. He faces up to life in prison, with a mandatory minimum of at least 20 years, when he is sentenced on Dec. 16," reported David Ovalle. "The case was decided against the backdrop of increased political rancor ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections. The case made for a challenging jury selection process, with many potential jurors unable to serve because of their own political biases."

'The quiet part out loud': Wisconsin GOP gubernatorial nominee makes bold statement if he wins

In the 2022 midterms, MAGA election deniers haven’t necessarily been as overt as Arizona GOP gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake or her Pennsylvania counterpart Doug Mastriano. Some have never acknowledged that President Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 election but avoid discussing the Big Lie. In Wisconsin, however, Democrats are slamming Republican gubernatorial nominee Tim Michels for saying “the quiet part out loud” and essentially promising that if he defeats Democratic incumbent Governor Tony Evers on November 8, he would simply throw out any election results that he doesn’t like.

A recording of Michels surfaced Wednesday from an event in Jefferson County, Wisconsin on Halloween, in which he makes a very bold statement, watch below:
