Democrats see 'ominous signs' and are becoming worried about Florida as midterms approach: report

Florida, more and more, has become a source of frustration to Democrats as well as to some Never Trump conservatives who are critical of far-right Gov. Ron DeSantis. Never Trumper Rick Wilson, a former GOP strategist and scathing critic of the MAGA movement, has described Florida as a state where Democrats “struggle.” And liberal MSNBC host Joy Reid has argued that Florida isn’t really a swing state anymore — it has evolved into a full-fledged red state.

Democratic worries about Florida are the focus of an article written by Politico reporters Matt Dixon and Gary Fineout and published on October 27. According to Dixon and Fineout, some Democratic strategists are growing increasingly pessimistic about their prospects in the Sunshine State as the Tuesday, November 8 election draws closer.

A GOP showdown over the debt limit could grip Congress and the nation next year

WASHINGTON — Republicans are eyeing the debt limit and government funding deadlines as a way to force Democrats to the negotiating table for spending cuts, should the GOP regain control of Congress following the midterm elections.

Republicans unhappy about government spending could move to shut down the government, a tactic unsuccessful for the GOP in past battles over Obamacare and the Trump border wall. Their potential refusal to adjust the debt limit could bring the nation to the verge of a damaging default, economic experts say.

Far fewer migrants now coming to NYC thanks to Biden, says Mayor Adams

NEW YORK — The flood of migrants coming into New York City has slowed to a trickle, Mayor Eric Adams said Wednesday as he praised President Joe Biden’s “decompression” strategy to lower the number of asylum seekers who’ve strained the city’s social services system. Adams, who was speaking at an unrelated press conference on the Lower East Side, said the city is now seeing far fewer buses filled with asylum seekers — a stark contrast to the eight to ten busloads the city had been receiving per day prior to the president’s new policy. “The mayor of El Paso called and said he’s not sending any mo...

A neuroscientist warns: The war with Trump has just begun — and it’s deeply psychological

Most of us are sick and tired of hearing about Donald Trump. We want him to go away, forever. But the unfortunate truth is that just isn’t happening—not any time soon, at least. Trump’s influence over the Republican party is as great as ever, and if we ignore that, it is like ignoring an infection. It will fester and spread and eat away at the flesh of America unless it is dealt with. But what is the antibiotic that stops the cultural disease that is Donald Trump?

First, we must realize that we are engaged in something like a game of chess. To defeat our opponent, we must be thinking many steps ahead, and we must try to anticipate what they are going to do. We must rely on our rational mind and our reactions must be mindful and strategic, rather than reflexive and impulsive. That may sound like obvious advice, but so far, the Left has been responding predictably, without foresight or strategy, and playing right into Trump’s hand as a result. The more CNN and MSNBC attack Trump and say he is the anti-Christ, the more he is loved by the Right. They think, “If he’s pissed them off that much, he must be doing something right!”
