'Miserable little weasel': Omar blasts Cruz over GOP plan to kill student debt relief

Rep. Ilhan Omar on Tuesday called Republican Sen. Ted Cruz a "miserable little weasel" for actively seeking out ways to get the Supreme Court to block President Joe Biden's plan to cancel $10,000 in student loan debt for most federal borrowers.

The Texas Republican is one of many GOP officials exploring a potential legal challenge to Biden's student debt relief plan, which is popular with voters—including those without debt and those who have paid off their debt—and could benefit more than 40 million borrowers across the U.S.

‘Clear and present threat to democracy’: Republican former defense secretary suggests Trump should be prosecuted

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Cohen says he agrees Donald Trump a “clear and present threat to democracy,” and adds his possession of classified documents including one revealing the nuclear capabilities of a foreign government is “offense enough” for him to be “subject to criminal prosecution.”

Cohen, a Republican and former U.S. Congressman and U.S. Senator from Maine, served as President Bill Clinton’s Defense Secretary. He noted that if he had the same documents in his house where he left office as Donald Trump did, “I would be in handcuffs.”

Trump backers learning the hard way that they can't get away with breaking the law like he does: Morning Joe

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said MAGA followers are finding out the hard way that the impunity that Donald Trump seems to enjoy doesn't extend to them.

Newly obtained surveillance video shows Cathy Latham, a former Republican Party official from Georgia who's now under criminal investigation for posing as a fake elector, escorting a group of pro-Trump operatives into Coffee County's election office on Jan. 7, 2021 -- the same day a voting system there was breached -- and the "Morning Joe" host said she'll suffer the fate of other insurrectionists.

Trump's controversial judges ripped as 'MAGA collaborators in robes'

MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes had harsh words on Tuesday for federal Judge Aileen Cannon one day after her highly controversial ruling to appoint a special master to oversee the documents seized when the FBI executed a search warrant at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

"It has been about 32 hours since a Trump-appointed federal district judge issued this astonishing ruling, essentially siding with Donald Trump and his lawyers, giving the ex-president nearly everything he wanted and more in the case of his clearly unlawful and possibly criminal retention of classified documents that are not his," Hayes said. "Now, we will get to the details of the ruling itself, but first, it is notable that this decision has come under unbelievable, overwhelming and near-universal criticism."

A medical worker prepares the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine booster to be given to children 12-15 years old at a hospital in Hartford, Connecticut

Washington (AFP) - Barring the emergence of drastically different variants, Covid boosters will likely be recommended annually in a similar manner to influenza vaccines, US health officials said Tuesday.

The announcement came after the Food and Drug Administration last week authorized updated bivalent shots against both the original strain of the coronavirus and the BA.4 and BA.5 lineages of the Omicron variant, which are predominant.

Buckle up: 'The Hunter Biden industrial complex is booming'

Far-right media company Breitbart had its first screening of a new movie on President Joe Biden's son Hunter, reported Politico.

"It was miles away from Tinseltown’s red carpets, literally and figuratively. In place of cocktails and expensive hors d’oeuvres were bottled water and pre-bagged 'Corn Pop,' a wink at a story Joe Biden has often told about this youth in Delaware intermingling with the city’s Black population," Politico reported.

GOP strategist: Kevin McCarthy is a 'coward' for pandering to 'semi-fascist' MAGA

On Tuesday's edition of CNN's "The Lead," longtime Republican strategist Peter Wehner responded to the explosion of outrage from Republican officials — chiefly from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) — over President Joe Biden referring to former President Donald Trump's most fervent supporters as "semi-fascist."

Biden was completely correct to use that term, argued Wehner, a former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan and both George Bushes, and a frequent critic of the former president — and the real dishonor goes to Kevin McCarthy, who in fact knows this is a serious problem within the Republican base and can't bring himself to do anything about it.

Biden rejects branding Russia 'state sponsor of terrorism'

President Joe Biden's administration on Tuesday said it would be counterproductive to brand Russia a "state sponsor of terrorism," rejecting calls from Ukraine and lawmakers to take the far-reaching action.

Biden, asked by a reporter on Monday if he would blacklist Russia as a terrorist state, said simply, "no," after months of non-committal answers from senior officials.

‘I was waiting Peter’: Karine Jean-Pierre calls Doocy’s claim ‘ridiculous’ as he presses about ‘MAGA Republicans’

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pushed back against Fox News personality Peter Doocy's attempt to conflate remarks she made in 2016 with those President Joe Biden made recently about "MAGA Republicans."

"So if we're all in agreement that it is incorrect to say the 2020 election was stolen, what about the 2016 election?" Doocy charged.
