Xi sends sympathy message to Biden over Covid infection

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a sympathy message to his United States counterpart Joe Biden on Friday, state broadcaster CCTV reported, a day after the 79-year-old US leader tested positive for Covid-19.

Biden on Thursday insisted he was "doing great", and said he would continue to work while isolating at the White House with mild symptoms.

As the Jan. 6 select committee presented damning evidence of Donald Trump allowing his violent coup attempt to continue for 187 minutes, Donald Trump basically admitted to seditious conspiracy on his Truth Social website.

In his statement, Trump admitted he wanted Vice President Mike Pence to reject the valid electors in multiple states in violation of the Constitution.

Watergate prosecutor reveals why the Secret Service would have wanted to delete Jan. 5 and 6 messages

Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman suggested one of the reasons that the Secret Service might want to intentionally delete evidence of Jan. 5 and 6 in a panel discussion ahead of the eight public hearing from the House Select Committee.

Akerman harkened back to the story of Vice President Mike Pence refusing to get into the Secret Service vehicles on Jan. 6 as they were in the holding location. According to testimony from his chief of staff, Marc Short, Pence told his chief of security that he trusted him, but that he wasn't driving the car. The presumption is that Pence didn't trust the agent driving the car.
