Organizers of the "Coal Baron Blockade" protest which targeted right-wing Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin's coal empire Saturday afternoon reported that state police almost immediately began arresting campaigners who assembled in Grant Town, West Virginia.

"Sen. Joe Manchin's policies hurt poor people and hurt our environment so deeply that activists are ready to put themselves on the line," tweeted the Poor People's Campaign, which joined grassroots group West Virginia Rising and other organizations in the blockade.

On Friday, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) tore into Republican Gov. Greg Abbott for ordering burdensome new truck inspections at the Mexican border — warning that this is not just an unnecessary stunt, but that it would slow down economic activity at the border, and disrupt supply chains in Texas and around the country.

"Governor Abbott's Texas border truck inspection enforcement action is impractical and detrimental to our local economy," said Gonzalez. "Our state and our nation depend on the reliable, uninterrupted flow of goods to meet our nation's needs. By implementing this action, Governor Abbott is exacerbating the supply chain crisis to further his crusade at the border. In halting legitimate trade, he is hurting Texans — the people he was elected to serve."

The House Select Committee Investigating the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol has made a "significant breakthrough" thanks to video evidence that the American public has yet to see.

On Friday, Hugo Lowell reported for The Guardian the select committee, "appears to believe the Capitol attack included a coordinated assault perpetrated by the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys militia groups that sought to physically stop the certification of Joe Biden’s election victory. The panel’s working theory – which has not been previously reported though the justice department has indicted some militia group leaders – crystallized this week after obtaining evidence of the coordination in testimony and non-public video, according to two sources familiar with the matter."

The man who was seen wearing a QAnon T-shirt while confronting Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman on Jan. 6, 2021 is now seeking to have his FBI interview suppressed, NBC News correspondent Ryan Reilly reports.

Doug Jensen was charged with six counts less than a week after the attack on the Capitol. He was interviewed by the FBI on Jan. 8, 2021.

Donald Trump, Jr. is facing calls for his arrest after CNN published text messages to Mark Meadows showing a scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election, which was won by Joe Biden.

According to a new book by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns set to be released this May, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had some harsh words for progressive lawmakers who helm the "The Squad," Punchbowl News reports.

President Joe Biden blasted Senate Republicans and their enablers who mounted a smear campaign against Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as he celebrated her historic confirmation in a White House ceremony on the South Lawn.

"I have to tell you," President Biden said, Judge Jackson stood through "verbal abuse," "anger," "constant interruptions," and "the most vile, baseless assertions and accusations." Later in his remarks, he denounced the "harassment" and "attacks" from Senate Republicans.
