Comedy Central's Jordan Klepper trolls MAGA converts on college campuses: 'What's cool?'

Comedy Central's Jordan Klepper visited college campuses to try to learn why young men are so drawn to President Donald Trump.

The comedian has been confronting older Trump fans outside MAGA rallies for the better part of a decade, but his new special, "Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse — MAGA: The Next Generation," focuses on younger MAGA supporters and the influences that have drawn them rightward, reported The Daily Beast.

“I think there’s a ‘cool’ vacuum that confident, thirsty, influencer types jump into with bravado and promise answers to a generation desperately in search of guidance,” Klepper told the outlet. “This space is political, yes, but it’s mostly cultural. Young men want community, answers, and insight like everyone else, and the left shouldn’t be afraid to enter into those spaces.”

In a promotional clip, the 46-year-old Klepper admits to being out of touch with the young men he interviews, who think being “woke” is “annoying” and the “Gulf of America” is “cool.”

“Clearly I need to better understand these kids,” he says in the clip. “So, much like when I was in college, can somebody please tell me what’s cool?”

“For the most part,” he said, the young MAGA men he spoke with were “open and curious, looking to find themselves and their tribe,” adding, “there’s no shortage of groups and influencers trying to pounce on that vulnerability.”

Klepper did find common ground in Martin Scorsese's "Wolf of Wall Street" with one man wearing a MAGA hat, but he realized they might have liked the film for different reasons.

“Is it because we understand it’s a satire or we just like the financial crisis of it all?” Klepper asked, but the MAGA fan said he liked how much the main character was “able to get away with.”

“Oh, so you see it as a hero’s journey,” Klepper said. “Good to know.”
