Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro – once on Kamala Harris’ vice presidential short list – opened up about what he saw as the toughest part of the vetting process in a moment with Jon Stewart on Monday that left the comedian and his audience in hysterics.
“The hardest part of that vetting part was finding all of my old taxes, that was very hard,” Shapiro told Stewart. “It goes back pretty far.”
He continued: “One night I’m sitting there on the floor on all fours, trying to go through all the paperwork."
“Yeah, I don't need to know that,” Stewart quickly responded.

“No, no, no, no,” Shapiro said as the audience and the host burst out into laughter. Shapiro continued his story after briefly pausing while Stewart regained himself.
“I walked into that, didn’t I?” Shapiro asked. “And my wife walks in, she looks at me and goes, ‘If only the American people could see you right now.’ I'm literally just trying to find our taxes.”
“Well, right now they are imagining it,” Stewart quipped. The Pennsylvania governor concluded the moment by joking, “This is not where I thought this was going to go.” Shapiro later said that Harris “made an outstanding pick in Tim Walz.”
“Tim Walz is going to be a great vice president of the United States and I’m all in for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
