The Harrisburg man arrested for setting fire over the weekend to the residence of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro allegedly planned to beat the governor with a hammer.
The Associated Press reports that newly filed court documents claim that 38-year-old Cody Balmer told police after being arrested and taken into custody that "he would have beaten Shapiro with a hammer if he had found him."
Police allege that Balmer eluded security officers guarding the governor's residence and set fire to large parts of the building, although neither Shapiro nor his family were harmed during the incident.
There is still no word on if Balmer's alleged actions had a specific political motivation.
