'I was talking actual facts': Fox News host confronts Trump official on tariff bloodbath

Fox News host Dana Perino called out Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler after President Donald Trump's tariffs resulted in U.S. job losses and a stock market meltdown.

Perino told Loeffler that companies were planning layoffs as the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped over 1,500 points at Thursday morning's opening.

"Reuters just announced that Stellantis is going to lay off 900 workers in Michigan and Indiana due to idling plants in Canada and Mexico," the Fox News host said. "We just talked about the market really reacting to this negatively at this point."

"Is this the short-term pain that people are going to have to go through?" she asked.

"Look, this is President Donald J. Trump standing up for American industry on a world stage," Loeffler insisted, without responding to the negative news. "The gravy train is over for the globalist elites who have profited on the backs of hard-working Americans, looting us of our industries and hollowing out our heartlands."

"And so what's happening here is a short-term adjustment," she added. "This is going to strengthen America. And you see investments pouring in by the trillions. So I would never bet against America."

Perino pushed back with a fact check.

"Well, I don't, I mean, I wasn't talking about betting against America," she explained. "I was just talking about the actual facts of things that are just happening this morning in reaction to this."
